Farmers protest rotation plan

NAWABSHAH, Sept 10: Farmers of Dhoro Naro branch, Nusrat irrigation division, blocked the Nawabshah-Sanghar link road as a protest against the rotation programme on Saturday. They said their land was getting barren due to water shortage as water was essential for crops.

They demanded that irrigation high-ups should cancel the rotation and provide water to their land.

PMDC: Elections for the seat of general council of the Pakistan Medical and Dental Council were held at the People’s Medical College on Saturday.

Polling officer and PMC vice-principal Prof Anwar Ali Akhund said a total number of 366 votes were cast with 254 valid registered and 112 invalid.

He said Dr Hadi Bux Jatoi received 120 votes, Prof Noor Mohammad Memon 92, Dr Zafar Abbas 38, Dr Shershah three votes and one vote was rejected.

He said that votes for invalid registration of doctors in the PMDC were cast separately.
