LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 10: The central leader of the ruling Pakistan Muslim League, Salim Saifullah Khan, has approached the local leadership of Awami National Party to seek their support for the offices of district and tehsil nazims. Well-placed sources told this correspondent on Saturday that Salim Saifullah Khan had held talks with ANP’s district president Sadruddin Khan Marwat and district general-secretary Latifullah Khan.
During the meeting, the prevailing political situation of the district and the third phase of local body elections came up for discussion.
“Some of the newly-elected naib nazims and councillors of ANP-backed Watan Dost group also took part in the discussion,” sources said.
The sources added that the ANP leadership apprised Mr Khan of the party policy and set conditions for reaching an agreement.
“The PML leader assured that the genuine demands of Watan Dost group will be met soon,” the sources added.
They quoted the close circles of the Saifullahs that the Watan Dost group would be persuaded to extend support to the Muttahida and Khushall Pakistan groups for the posts of district and tehsil nazims as the talks had been held in a congenial atmosphere.
