Majeed Malik’s expulsion from PML sought

By A Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Sept 9: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) MPAs from Chakwal have urged the party president, Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, to expel PML Senior Vice-President Lt-Gen (retired) Majeed Malik from party for being disobedient to party leaders. Speaking at a joint press conference, MPAs Taqleel Raza and Chaudhry Ijaz Hussain Farhat and PML General Secretary Chakwal said Mr Malik was contesting the polls for district nazim, though Chaudhry Shujaat had named former nazim Sardar Ghulam Abbas for the district nazim’s slot. They said Mr Malik’s services to the party were great, but he should accept the decision of PML leadership regarding party- backed nominee for the slot of Chakwal nazim.

MPA Taqleel Raza said Abbas group had won seats in 35 union councils of the district. He said for electing the district nazim, 419 votes were required, adding that he possessed 525 votes of his councillors. He was of he view that the former nazim would be reelected comfortably.

“Though Mr Malik is a senior PML worker, he has made seat adjustment with Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) ignoring the fact that Mr Abbas is also his party candidate.”
