WASHINGTON, Sept 9: The Council on American-Islamic Relations, a US-based non-profit civil liberties group, will broadcast anti-terror advertisements in Florida over the weekend to coincide with the fourth anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks. The CAIR said in a statement that the anti-terror ads will appear on 13 cable channels, including CNN, MSNBC, CNBC, BayNews9, Fox Sport Net.
As US Muslims, ‘we wanted to express once more on the fourth anniversary of the Sept 11 attacks that we oppose terrorism and religious fundamentalism’, said spokesman Ahmed Bedier in Florida.
The 30-second spot features two American Muslims who denounce violence in the name of Islam and vow ‘not to allow our faith to be hijacked by criminals’. The statement added that Muslims condemned all terrorists regardless of their religious affiliations.
