3 sisters killed over family quarrel

SANGHAR, Sept 8: Two sisters were hanged in Sanghar town’s Shahanshah colony and a third was slaughtered in Chak-23 on the Sanghar-Nawabshah Road on Thursday. A brother of the deceased and husband of one of the murdered sisters are involved in the crime. Muneer Bhatti, who worked in a haircutting saloon in Karachi, had divorced his wife Asma, 24, the mother of a five-month-old baby, on Wednesday.

Muneer along with Asif, the brother of the deceased, went to the house of Samina, 22, and Uzma, 16, who had shifted to Sanghar a few days back along with their parents and a younger brother Junaid, 10.

They first took tea in the house and left. They came back after about half an hour and strangulated Junaid.

Presuming that he was dead, they tied the hands of the two sisters and put something in their mouth and hanged them from the ceiling.

The killers went to the village in Chak-23 and took Asma to a nearby sugarcane field and slaughtered her.

The accused escaped after committing the crime.

Reportedly, Asma was demanding divorce because she had alleged that her husband Muneer Bhatti was impotent.

The row continued for several months.

DPO Amjad Magsi said the cause and the number of killers would be ascertained after the investigation.—Correspondent
