KARACHI: Old man killed in family feud

KARACHI, Sept 8: An elderly man died and another was wounded when distant relatives opened fire in Shershah here on Thursday, police said. According to initial reports, two families had reportedly sat together to resolve a dispute arising out of a marriage proposal.

Police said some members of the two families had decided to discuss the matter in a house in Shershah. Differences developed among them over some matter which led to the exchange of hot words and subsequently opening of fire on one another.

As a result, Mian Ebad, 70, died and his young relative Razzak, 24, sustained bullet injuries.

The suspects escaped from the spot following the incident.

An official of the Shershah police station said that details of the incident are sketchy, but according to the initial findings, Thursday’s incident was a result of family dispute.

CRUSHED: An unidentified young man was crushed to death beneath a locomotive at Cantonment Railway Station Thursday.

Police said the victim was apparently trying to cross tracks, but got crushed a train. Police shifted the body to JPMC for legal formalities.
