KARACHI, Sept 8: The Pakistan Railway Workers Federation on Thursday demanded of the government and Pakistan Railway authorities to give possession of plots to allottees in the railway housing society.

A meeting of the PRWF, presided over by Mr Manzoor Razi, expressed concern over the inordinate delay in this regard.

The Pakistan Railway Society’s project No 15 in Juma Goth spread on 164 acres was announced some 20 years back. About 3,500 railway workers from scale 1-15 were given plots in different categories, ranging between 120 square yards to 400 square yards.

The meeting observed that the society had spent Rs50 million on the development work, including the laying of water and sewerage lines, and construction of roads. The layout plan was approved by the PR Karachi Division, and sent for the approval to Lahore headquarters, where it was still pending.

It expressed concern over the delay in the approval of the plan as plots were ready to be disbursed among legal allottees. Many allottees have died, the meeting deplored. The meeting expressed the apprehension that the land mafia may encroach upon the precious land depriving the legal allottees of their plots.
