Rashid salvages point for Punjab

LAHORE, Sept 7: An 82nd minute goal by Rashid Ali helped Punjab hold NWFP to a 2-2 draw in the National under-17 football championship Group-B in Quetta, according to message received here on Wednesday.

Fazal Zeeshan struck for NWFP in the seventh minute, converting a free-kick and 14 minutes later Jabran consolidated the lead.

Punjab started recovery when Muhammad Naseem struck in the 28th minute to make the score 2-1. After the half time, Punjab continued their efforts and finally Rashid struck with a solo effort. Punjab with four points are the leaders of Group-B while NWFP and Islamabad managed two points each.

Northern Areas are at the bottom with one point. The other two matches remained goalless. Wohaib Club, Lahore drew 0-0 with hosts Balochistan in Group-A.

After completion of two matches of the group, Balochistan led the table with two points, followed by Wohaib Club and Sindh with one points, each. Northern Areas and Islamabad also played a drawn game.
