Bomb blasts spread panic in three cities

Dawn Report

NAWABSHAH, Sept 6: Four bomb blasts, two in Nawabshah and one each in Sukkur, Dadu sparked panic in the city on Tuesday evening. The explosions in Nawabshah occurred near the National Bank’s main branch on the Sakrand road causing damage to a part of the building’s roof and some windowpanes. No casualty was reported.

According to DPO Gayasuddin Rashdi, the blasts were caused by crackers, but intelligence sources were of the opinion that the explosions were of the bombs.

The Sindh National Liberation Movement claimed responsibility for the blasts in a pamphlet found by intelligence personnel near the building.

The pamphlet purportedly issued by Ghulam Hussain Chandio claimed the organization was working for independence of Sindh and it was fighting against usurpation of mineral resources of Sindh, construction of the Kalabagh dam and military cantonments.

The pamphlet labelled six officers of provincial police as anti-Sindh.

The blast in Sukkur took place near the State Bank building and it was heard in far-off places of the city.

Personnel of law-enforcement agencies sealed the area.

Police sources said the blast was caused by a big fire-cracker planted by some miscreants.

In Dadu, the blast on the Kutchehry road damaged a government vehicle.

Police officials rushed to the place and blocked all roads.
