FIR against nazim registered

KHAIRPUR, Sept 6: Manzoor Ahmed Sheikh, reader to the Additional Sessions Judge-III and the Returning Officer of the Khanpur union council, has lodged an FIR under section 353, 342, 506/2 of the PPC and 171F on Monday with the Tando Masti police against Fazal Mohammad Mari, a newly-elected nazim of the Khanpur union council, Abdul Latif Kanhar, the presiding officer of the union council of Khanpur and others on order of the District and sessions Judge/DRO of Khairpur vide his letter No DRO/KHP/25.

The complainant has stated that the accused committed rigging at the said polling station as it was found that only about 270-280 names were marked on the electoral roll of the presiding officer while about 570 ballots papers were issued.

SHO SUSPENDED: The DPO of Khairpur has suspended the SHO of Sobhodero police station, Zameer Hussain Shah, on Tuesday. The SHO was alleged for negligence in an incident that took place on Sept 3 in which one Khalid Markhan was murdered and two villagers namely Gul Mohammad Markhand and Roshan Ali were kidnapped from the Belharo village in Sobho Dero taluka.

PASSENGERS ROBBED: Some six persons embarked on a Karachi-bound passenger wagon late on Monday night from Khairpur when the wagon reached near the Shal Dhani link road on the National Highway, the armed persons robbed the passengers at gunpoint and escaped.
