Recognition of Israel to harm Pakistan’s interests: Ghinwa
HYDERABAD, Sept 6: The chairperson of the Pakistan People’s Party (Shaheed Bhutto), Ms Ghinwa Bhutto, has said that the Istanbul meeting between foreign ministers of Pakistan and Israel has created a crisis of enormous proportions and warned that recognition of Israel will prove disastrous for Pakistan.
She was speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Tuesday.
She said when Rafik Hariri was assassinated in Lebanon she was in that country and everyone had realized that his murder would not only have far-reaching repercussions in the region.
She said the Security Council’s resolutions 1559 stipulated the Syrian pull out from Lebanon and disarming of Hezbollah before holding elections.
She said the resolution suited the Unites States but Pakistan along with five other countries including China had abstained from voting on the plea that it was tantamount to interfering into internal affairs of a sovereign state.
She said Pakistan was now preparing to recognize Israel.
She said the Unites Sates was trying to draft a new constitution for Iraq by dividing the country into Kurdistan and Shia and Sunni provinces.
She said it was of paramount importance that the Unites States should first pull out from Iraq.
She said Israel was the first priority of America and it was building up pressure on Iran to give up its nuclear programme and was also using Pakistan in this regard.
The PPP-SB leader said Iran, Iraq and Pakistan were anathema to Israel and for that reason Israel destroyed Iraq’s nuclear facilities in the past and now Iran was the target.
She said three Muslim countries were supposed to be nuclear powers and Pakistan had been neutralized as under the pressure of the United States and it had extended a hand of friendship to Israel.
MS Bhutto said natural allies of Pakistan were the Muslim countries and not Israel.
She said only three Arab countries had so far recognized Israel.
“It has no economy and we cannot have any trade relations with Israel which exists in a hostile environment”, she said.
She said the Unites States was pouring in billions of dollars for survival of Israel and to run its economy.
She said the military aid being given to India by Israel was also American.
Ms Bhutto said dependence on outside resources drastically curtailed the sovereignty of all independent states and only beneficiaries of foreign investment were the rich people.
She said the World Bank and other agencies keep us happy by helping a mediocre education system.
