Indian minister to visit Murree

NEW DELHI, Sept 5: Indian Commerce Minister Kamal Nath will travel to the hill resort town of Murree, 40kms from Islamabad, on September 8-10 for another round of negotiations among the Group of 20 (G-20) developing countries on global trade talks. The meeting hosted by Commerce Minister Humayun Akhtar Khan comes ahead of the crucial ministerial meeting of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) to wrap up the Doha round of trade talks scheduled in Hong Kong later in December.

Agriculture will be the main issue to be discussed by the G-20 ministers. This informal grouping was mainly formed to ensure that the US and the EU do not sidestep issues of concern for developing countries at the WTO.—PPI
