Six killed in Kashmir

SRINAGAR, Sept 5: Suspected rebels killed six people and injured sixteen in held Kashmir, police said on Monday. Three brothers were shot dead at point-blank range in the southern district of Doda early Monday, police said, adding that two of them were policemen working with counter-insurgency forces.

In the same district police said suspected rebels shot dead a Muslim girl, while a middle-aged Muslim woman had her throat slit in the neighbouring district of Poonch late Sunday, also by suspected rebels.

Police also blamed militants for killing another Muslim policeman in the central district of Budgam late Sunday.—AFP
