LAHORE, Sept 5: Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) has unveiled its year-long activity programme under which a total of 20 tournaments will be played till next year. A PGF spokesman disclosed on Monday that the programme had been prepared in a manner to hold a major tournament every month.

“Having a major tournament or two each month will add thrill, making them more competitive,” he observed.

There will be 13 golf tournaments exclusively for the amateur players of national standing, with two premier tournaments in the golf calendar being the Amateur Golf Championship of Pakistan and Open Golf Championship of Pakistan.

He said the first tournament of the calender 2005-6 the Sindh Open, has already taken place in August at Karachi.

The final championship of the calendar will be held at Islamabad from May 12 to 14 2006, and thereafter the golf professionals and the amateur champions will get a break.

PGF official said the present PGF administration was ensuring all steps to expand the span of golfing activities in all parts of the country where suitable facilities are available.

The schedule for the open golf tournaments is as under, with dates, name of the tournament and their venues:

Bolan Open, September, at Quetta Golf Club (dates later).

Sept 16-18: COAS Open at Rawalpindi Golf Club.

Sept 23-25: Gujranwala Open at Gujranwala Golf Club.

Sept 30-Oct 2: Punjab Open at Lahore Gymkhana.

Dec 2-4: Invitational Match at Islamabad Golf Club

Dec 9-11: PIA Classic Open at Rawalpindi Golf Club

Dec 16-18: CNS Open at Karachi Golf Club

Dec 23-25: Hyderabad Open at Hyderabad Golf Club

Jan-22 2006: Pakistan Open (venue later)

Jan 26-29: Royal Palm Open at Royal Palm Golf & Country Club

Feb 3-5: Quaid-i-Azam Open at Lahore Gymkhana

Feb 25-26: Crescent Open at Lyallpur Golf Club

March 3-5: Multan Open at Multan Golf Club

March 7-9: Garrison Open at Garrison Golf Club

March 13-15: Ibex Open at Sargodha Golf Club

March 17-19: Faysal Bank Open at Lahore Gymkhana

March 31-April 2: CAS Open at Peshawar Golf Club

April 14-16: Allama Iqbal Open at Sialkot Golf Club
