‘More districts will be created in Sindh’

By Our Correspondent

SANGHAR, Sept 5: Sindh Home Minister Abdul Rauf Siddiqui has said that more districts will be created in Sindh. He was speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Ishratul Ibad Squash Court and a swimming pool at the Cadet College Sanghar on Monday.

He said the newly-created districts in Sindh would remain forever and future governments would not do away with them.

He said that Karachi was an international city and new districts would not be created there.

He said separation of investigation police from operation was a good system but not accepted by police officials.

He said 2,500 constables would be recruited soon.

He said during operation against bandits in Shah Belo, police had found photographs of MNAs and MPAs with bandits.

He said a police-community system had been created, adding that if motorbike could be provided by the community we could give police.

He said the system was working at the Tariq Road and other areas successfully.

He said concern about Khokhrapar was not true as terrorists never use check posts to enter the country and added that they could also come from Wagah.

He said nowhere in the world any government had challenged underworld but we were fighting against them.

He said the government would not negotiate with criminals, bandits and gangsters and only negotiate in case of kidnapping when lives are at risk.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE: The teaching staff of the Government Degree College and parents have expressed concern over lengthy procedure for admission to various faculties announced by the University of Sindh.

They said for completion of all formalities from collection and submission of admission forms to allotment of hostel rooms, every student was made to travel from the far-flung areas to Jamshoro at least ten times and each visit costs at least Rs1,000.

Talking to this correspondent, parents and teachers said that a student could get admission to universities thousand of miles away in the UK and the USA without visiting those universities so why here the procedure was made complicated.

Prof M.A. Sanjrani, M.A. Qureshi, Khuda Bux Bhurgari had lodged a complaint against cumbersome procedure adopted by the Sindh University and the LUMHS.

The Sindh Ombudsman’s secretariat had directed the health department and the university administration to take necessary action but to no avail.

Mr Sanjrani and Mr Yaqoob told this correspondent that they had requested authorities concerned time and again for granting an audience and taking necessary action but nothing had been done.

They demanded that any commercial bank in every district and taluka headquarter be designated to issue, collect admission and hostel allotment forms and fees.

They demanded that admit cards be dispatched to candidates on their postal address.

They said a candidate should go once for appearing in the entry test and all other formalities be completed nearest to his home.

They appealed to the provincial ombudsman to redirect the authorities concerned to resolve problems of parents and candidates on the priority basis.
