Sami blasts Istanbul initiative

LAKKI MARWAT, Sept 5: Central Amir of his own faction of JUI Senator Maulana Samiul Haq has said that the recent meeting between Foreign Minister Khurshid Mehmood Kasuri and his Israeli counterpart in Istanbul “is a part of a series of policies initiated by President General Pervez Musharraf to recognize Israel”.

“The aim of such policies is to defame Islam in the world and appease the United States for the purpose of prolonging his unconstitutional rule,” he said while addressing the convocation (Dastarbandi) ceremony of Maulana Syed Mehboob Shah and Syed Muhammad Ismail Shah here on Monday.

Provincial general secretary of JUI Syed Muhammad Yousaf Shah, district amir Maulana Habibullah Haqqani, district president of PLM-Q Al-Haaj Muhammad Aslam Khan, district president of PML-N Shafiullah Khan Begukhel, Syed Muhammad Ayub Shah and other elders were also present on the occasion.

“The madressahs are not sanctuaries of terrorists rather these are the holy places where ulema and religious students (Taliban) deliver and get education of Quran and Sunnah,” Maulana Sami maintained.

He said Islam “is one of the most enlightened religion but the rulers of the country are trying to accomplish the nefarious designs and vested interests of Uncle Sam and the West by maligning it and promoting the so-called concept of enlightened moderation”.

He added that the United States could not materialize its dream of bringing eternal peace on earth until and unless it reviewed polices regarding Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine and stopped massacre of Muslims.

He urged upon people of the country to forge unity in their ranks and play their role in conveying the real message of Islam to the non-Muslims.
