Man, two sons killed over enmity

BAHAWALNAGAR, Sept 5: A man and his two sons were killed over an old enmity here on Sunday at Chak Madrissa in Basti Nehalika police limits. Muhammad Akthar lodged an FIR with the police alleging that M.Azam, Hasil, Aslam, Akram, Riaz Ahmad, Muhan, Zakir and Liaquat Ali came to his fields and opened fire, killing his father Allah Ditta and his two brothers, Muhammad Ahmad and Muhammad Asghar, on the spot.

Reports said the assailants killed Allah Ditta and his sons to avenge the murder of Azam’s father six years ago. However, the court had acquitted Allah Ditta.

LITERACY: Literacy week will be observed in the district from Sept 8 to 14 under the auspices of literacy and non-formal education department.

Executive District Officer (Literacy) Bashir Ahmad Zahid Goraya said here on Monday that seminars, debates, a ‘literacy mela’ and tableaus would be organized.

Literacy awards would also be distributed among teachers and learners, he said.
