BEIJING, Sept 4: Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry, has said that Pakistan will continue to support China on the issues of Taiwan, Tibet and human rights.
As traditional allies, the two countries wanted to maintain a similar position on regional and international issues, he said while talking to his Chinese counterpart Justice Xiao Yang.
During the meeting, the two top judicial leaders mentioned the existing warmness in the long-standing friendship between their countries and hoped cooperation and understanding between them in various fields will further grow.
Justice Xiao spoke highly of Sino-Pakistan friendship and said it was rightly described as higher than the Himalayas and deeper than the oceans.
During the meting, they reiterated their resolve to expand bilateral exchanges and cooperation in the judicial field under a MoU signed in Beijing in September, 2001.
Under the MoU, the two countries have agreed to cooperate in the fields of judicial statistics, judges’ training and exchanges between their courts. It has also been agreed that they would strengthen the exchanges of information laws, regulations, material, trial practice and judicial publications.—APP
