KARACHI, Sept 4: Sindh Civil Defence Director Mattanat Ali Khan has ordered to keep the siren system in order before the start of Ramazan. Addressing a meeting of civil defence officers on Saturday, he said that lapses in this regard would not be tolerated. He asked all officials to check the siren systems in their respective areas, and get the out of order equipment repaired.

About civil defence training, he said that the candidates would be issued certificates after completion of the training.

He said that training courses for workers should be initiated to enable them to cope with industrial accidents. He said that according to contingency plan, a 15-day training course of civil defence should be conducted for schools, colleges, hospitals and factories. He said that this course should be made mandatory for these institutions.

He said that cards of all volunteers, who used to be absent, should be cancelled.—PPI
