5 tribesmen escape from lock-up

Bureau Report

PESHAWAR, Sept 3: Five prisoners escaped from a lock-up of the political administration of South Waziristan Agency in Tank district on Saturday morning, sources said.

The political authorities have suspended two khasadars and arrested 10 tribesmen under the collective responsibility clause of the Frontier Crimes Regulation.

Sources said the escaped prisoners were members of the Ahmadzai Wazir and Mahsud tribes. They were identified as Fareedullah, Hazrat Ali, Ghani Khan, Noor Gul and Inayatullah. They had been arrested under the FCR.

The authorities have charged khasadars Afsar Khan and Ashiq Khan with dereliction of duty and suspended the two men.
