KARACHI, Sept 3: Six ships carrying palm oil and DAP fertilizers are due to arrive at the outer anchorage on Sunday, according to KPT sources. Berthing activity at the wharves was fairly active as the port agencies tried to clear the inward rush of foreign flag vessels. As a result, seven ships, Kota Waruna, Manila Bay, PONL Mahe, Sagamore and Wan Hai-262 to unload and load containers, African Karoo and Rainbow Spring to unload imported sugar were berthed after the departure of as many.

The ships, which departed included Y.M. Faha, Golden Express, Sagamore, CEC Action, Kuo Teraju and Arihant, while Wan Hai-261, Kota Waruna, Captain Adam, Maersk Alaska and Corin Thaikos are due to sail out on Sunday.

Cargo handling activity at the wharves was active where a total tonnage of 76,668 tons comprising 14,562 tons of export cargo and 62,106 tons of import tonnage was handled.

The following ships are due on Sunday: Hailisen and Hounslow-2, with 8,200 and 5,000 tons of palm oil, Shalamar, with 72,025 tons of crude oil, Nefeli-1, with containers, Ariston, with 33,000 tons of DAP fertilizer and Glory-C, with 30,617 tons of rock phosphate.

KARACHI, Sept 3: Two container ships were allotted berths at QICT during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release on Saturday.

Berth occupancy stood at 67 per cent as six ships, Norasia Everest, Bay Bridge, Entalina, Genmar Sun, Megas Alexandros and Tian Song Feng, were busy in loading/offloading containers, edible oil, seeds, furnace oil and sugar.

A cargo volume of 56,539 tons comprising 40,695 tons of import and 15,844 tons of export cargo was handled.

Sailing was active as Genmar Sun and Norasia Everest left the port while Bay Bridge was due to depart.

Bemudian Express was awaiting its berthing turn at the outer anchorage.

Three ships, Maersk Alaska, San Clemente and Bagi, with container and crude oil were due to arrive on Saturday, while Rosa-M with container was expected to reach on Sunday.
