SUKKUR, Sept 2: Differences have emerged among government allied parties over posts of nazims of Sukkur and Shikarpur districts as the PPP and the PML-F have posted joint candidates.

At a meeting held at the Sukkur circuit house, Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim nominated Nasir Shah as a candidate for the district nazim.

Newly-elected nazims and councillors attended the meeting.

Yar Mohammad Ghumro, the joint candidate of the PML-F and the PPP also met the chief minister.

Pir Sahib Pagaro has already nominated Mr Ghumro as the candidate of PML-F for the district nazim slot.

The chief minister said candidate of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement would contest election for taluka nazim.

Therefore, an interesting contest is being expected and the PML-Q will fight against the PML-F while the PPP was supporting PML-F and the Muttahida is supporting the PML-Q.

When contacted, Mr Ghumro said he was the candidate of the PML-F and would not withdraw from the contest except on the orders of Pir Sahib Pagaro.

He claimed he was enjoying strong position.

The Sindh chief minister nominated Arif Mahar as a candidate of district nazim Shikarpur and the Jatoi group protesting over the decision contacted Pir Sahib Pagaro.

During his visit to Shikarpur, the chief minister nominated Arif Mahar as district nazim Shikarpur, Imran Khan Mahar for taluka nazim Lakhi, Najaf Ali Kamario for Khanpur taluka and seat of taluka nazim Shikarpur was left on discretion of the Mahars.

MPA Abid Jatoi said he along with Babul Bhayo met with the chief minister and told him that he was enjoying support of more than 400 councillors but our majority have been denied.

He said Pir Sahib Pagaro nominated him as the district nazim Shikarpur.
