ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz has said that Kashmir is the core issue between Pakistan and India and progress on other issues will move in tandem with progress on Kashmir issue.

He was talking to Shyam Saran, Indian Foreign Secretary who called on him at the Prime Minister Secretariat on Thursday.

The Prime Minister said that the peace process between the two countries is irreversible. The composite dialogue process is the key and the two countries must maintain its integrity’, said the PM.

He said Pakistan is committed to peace and wants multi-faceted relationship. He said the two countries have to recognize problems and resolve all outstanding issues including the core issue of Kashmir.

We must make progress on Kashmir as we owe it to our people, he said. ‘We can create history and change destiny if we broaden our horizons’, he added.

Mr Aziz said that there are three stakeholders in the Kashmir issue —- Pakistan, India and the people of Kashmir. The Kashmir issue should be resolved in line with the aspirations and wishes of the people of Kashmir, he emphasised.

The prime minister said that Saarc countries have great potential as they are endowed with human capital, which is second to none and needs to be leveraged to bring prosperity and development to the people in the region.—APP
