Nine killed in Kashmir clash

SRINAGAR, Sept 1: Indian troops have shot dead nine suspected militants who allegedly snuck across the heavily militarized Line of Control, the army said Thursday. “The nine were killed during a night-long clash along the LoC,” Indian army spokesman Vijay Batra said.

He said the militants were killed after they had infiltrated into the held Kashmir.

“The group was tracked Wednesday morning and in the evening the fighting started in the northern Nowgam sector,” Mr Batra said, adding the operation was continuing.—AFP
