PCB to appoint talent-spotters

ISLAMABAD, Sept 1: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will appoint talent-spotters in regions besides starting club and women cricket competitions this very year. “The promotion of club, women and regional cricket is our priority”, the PCB Chairman, Mr. Shaharyar M. Khan, said while speaking at the conclusion ceremony of a 10-week juniors cricket programme run by CPC Cricket Academy.

Shaharyar said PCB planned to organise women’s Asia Cup Cricket in Pakistan in December. Before that, the Indian Under-19 women’s cricket team would also tour Pakistan in October while two selected women’s teams of the country would play a Unicef-related cricket match on Sept 15.

He said PCB would appoint batting, bowling and fielding coaches for its senior and junior teams through advertisement in national and international newspapers “which would appear in few days”.

Earlier, speaking to the participants of the juniors training programme, the PCB Chairman called for fitness of players.

“The players will have to take care of their fitness aspect themselves”.

He said PCB would also start “gold” and “silver” leagues in its premier domestic cricket competition, in which six and seven teams respectively would participate.

Earlier, PTCL whites beat PTCL greens by six wickets in the final matches played between kids of CPC juniors coaching camp. PTCL had helped CPC run the camp.—APP
