FAISALABAD, Aug 31: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz ordered on Wednesday suspension of SP (Investigation) Abdullah Khalid Warraich for his alleged involvement in the rape-cum-torture of Sonia Naz.

Saddar SP Tauqeer Hayat has been given the additional charge of the investigation as well.

SP Khalid, who is allegedly enjoying out-of-turn promotions, is facing another inquiry into charges of helping people illegally obtain properties. One such incident claimed a life.

Dawn learnt that Sardar Muhmmad, a resident of Kamalia (Toba Tek Singh), moved a writ petition with the LHC alleging that the SP, Civil Lines Investigation Circle ASP Naeem Ahmad Sheikh and DSP (Headquarters) Chaudhry Mumtaz Ahmad Deo, along with 25 other police officials, stormed into his friend’s outhouse.

The SP and his accomplices proclaimed that all people be killed for exchanging harsh words with the police and purchasing the land against their wishes.

The petitioner further contended that SP Abdullah and his men started aerial firing during which his brother, Karam Elahi, was killed. After committing the crime, the SP implicated their relatives and friends in many cases, he said, requesting the court to order registration of a case against the accused.

SSP Mubashir will now conduct the inquiry on Sept 5.
