Three kids injured as rivals trade fire

GUJRANWALA, Aug 31: As many as three minor boys sustained injuries in an armed clash between two rival groups in Aroop area here on Wednesday. Reports said two rival groups, led by Rana Arshed Mahmood and Hero were trading fire when bullets hit Osama (6), Tayyab (5) and Nauman (8). They were rushed to DHQ hospital in a critical condition. Aroop police have registered a case.

GANG BUSTED: The district police claimed on Wednesday to have busted a seven-member dacoits’ gang and recovered looted goods and illicit arms from their possession.

District Police Officer Dr. Arif Mushtaq said at a news conference here on Wednesday that the accused were wanted in dozens of robbery cases by Surki (Sialkot) Cantonment, Aroop, Civil Lines, Satellite Town and People’s Colony police.

He said the police recovered 110-tola gold jewellery, besides other goods and illicit arms from their possession. He announced cash prize and commendation certificates for the raiding team.
