NOTICES ISSUED: Notices were issued to state and jail authorities by a division bench of High Court of Sindh, comprising Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Azizullah M Memon, here on Wednesday in a constitutional petition filed by the cousin of an alleged drug baron, Haji Laloo.

Taj Mohmmad moved the court, stating that Haji Laloo was shifted from Central Prison to Sanghar district jail without any reason.

The shifting order was mala fide in essence as a number of cases are pending trial before different courts at Karachi, counsel for the petitioner said.

The petitioner prayed that accused be shifted back to Karachi so that cases against him are tried and family is saved from undue fatigue.

The bench after hearing initial arguments issued notice to the state for a date to be fixed later.

The same bench dismissed a petition filed by a citizen Muhibullah who prayed that nazim and naib nazim elect, namely Abdul Shakoor and Shamsul Hasan, from a union council of Karachi be restrained from casting vote in elections for the post of nazim Karachi.

The petitioner maintained that both the respondents possess a “sanad” which was declared not equivalent to matriculation by the apex court.

The bench, after hearing the counsel for petitioner, dismissed the same.
