KARACHI, Aug 31: Former city nazim Niamatullah Khan will formally inaugurate the “Preventive Medicine Conference 2005” at the Liaquat National Hospital auditorium on Sept 10.
The event, organized by the Pakistan Islamic Medical Association (PIMA), will comprise thematic talks and scientific discussions relevant to the expanding field of medicine, genetics and ethical issues that are fast emerging across the globe.
Dr Misbah ul Aziz, President of the conference in a statement on Wednesday said the moot was aimed at updating local doctors in various fields including medicine, cardiology, diabetes, paediatrics, neuropsychiatry and women health.
This would particularly interest postgraduates and family physicians, he said.
Referring to the theme of the conference, the senior medical professional reminded that it held immense relevance since the emphasis of doctors in general had been on prescription.
“It is high time that we concentrate more on avoiding disease and promoting health, as this has more implications for poor patients in countries like ours,” Dr Aziz stressed.—APP
