12 die in bus crash

RAHIM YAR KHAN, Aug 30: Twelve people were burnt alive and eight others injured when a bus caught fire after it touched 11-KV transmission wires on Tuesday.

The bus was coming here from the town of Manthar. Near Chak 124-P it had to change its route because of the road blockade due to a separate accident involving another bus and a tractor trolley. While passing through Chak 137/P on the changed route, the bus came in contact with 11000-volt electric wires and caught fire.

Twelve passengers died. Nine of them were identified as Siraj Mughal, Mohammad Farooq, Parveen Kosar, Rehan, Bachoo Faqir, Bakhta Jee, Khatoon Jee, Kawell Jee and Babri. Among the injured admitted to the Sheikh Zayed Hospital the condition of Mohammad Asghar is said to be critical.
