PESHAWAR, Aug 30: The immigration authorities at the Peshawar International Airport have deported a South African woman who landed here on Tuesday morning on forger Pakistani visa.

Ms Kahaar Lameez arrived here at 9am from Johannesburg via Dubai by an Emirates’ flight and was sent back at noon, said Assistant Director Immigration Inamullah Khan Gandapur.

He added that she had travelled on a fake visa which almost looked genuine.

“But when we verified from the immigration and passport office in Islamabad, the official concerned confirmed that the visa sticker number was fake,” said the official.

Talking to this correspondent, 29-year-old Kahaar said that she had come here to see her South African friend Mohammad Ali in Lahore.

She planned to stay with him for three to four weeks to look for the right Islamic institute where she intended to study.

However, Inspector Sardarullah Babar, who had inspected her passport, said that they could not say anything about the purpose of her coming to Peshawar.

He said that she had only $200 in her pocket which seemed to be insufficient to stay in Pakistan for three to four weeks.

Ms Kahaar said that she had paid Rand 600 (almost $100) to a travel agent, Van Niekerk, in Johannesburg to get the visa because there was no Pakistani embassy or consulate in her city.
