Youth shot dead by robbers

GUJRANWALA, Aug 30: A youth was shot dead by robbers on offering resistance in Kamoki on Tuesday. Reports said some dacoits were looting passers-by after setting up a picket near ladies park. They looted family of Chaudhry Ashraf Ahmad Hinjra and motorcyclist Mubarak Ahmad. In the meantime, Ijaz Ahmad riding a car came there, the dacoits signalled him to stop, but he accelerated the vehicle as a result of which the gangsters opened fire, killing him on the spot.

His body was removed to the THQ civil hospital for autopsy. A case has been registered.

SEIZED: The highway police patrol have seized a large quantity of illicit arms and dozens of vehicles within two months of its establishment.

This was claimed by highway patrol SP Yousaf Ali Ahmad Sabir Kiani at a briefing here on Tuesday.

He said two kalashnikovs, 20 pistols, six rifles, 12 knives and 260 rounds, besides stolen vehicles were recovered from their possession.

EXHUMATION: District and Sessions Judge Mazhar Husain Minhas on Tuesday ordered exhumation of a woman’s body.

Reports said petitioner Rashida Bibi of Mirpur Khas, Sindh, moved the court pleading that her daughter Sweera, a mother of four children, was allegedly poisoned by her husband Nazir Ahmad and his relatives over a family feud.
