KARACHI: Pipeline bursts

By Our Staff Reporter

KARACHI, Aug 29: A 33-inch-diameter water supply pipeline near Sakhi Hasan pumping station got ruptured on Sunday, inundating an adjoining road. KWSB officials said owing to repair work being undertaken on the pipeline, water supply to blocks R, S and T of North Nazimabad, and Buffer Zone would remain suspended.

Chief Engineer Water Distribution Asudo Mal said that the KWSB staff immediately started work after locating the fault and it was expected to be completed on Tuesday after which supply to these areas would be restored.

About water shortage in parts of Malir, including Khokhrapar, he said the tail-end areas were not getting water owing to low pressure, especially in Model Colony’s Sheets 27 and 25. At present, there were no immediate plans for increase in water quota. However, he added, it would be increased after availability of more water from the K-III project.
