Bugti invites Baloch leadership

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 28: Jamhoori Watan Party leader Nawab Akbar Khan Bugti has invited Baloch leaders, intellectuals and elders to Dera Bugti to discuss formation of a single nationalist organization.

In a message to the Baloch nation, read by JWP Secretary-General Agha Shahid Hussain Bugti at a press conference here, he said that all Baloch national parties should merge into a single organization to determine ways to achieve the “Baloch national right to sovereignty” and get rid of Punjab’s domination.

In reply to a question, Shahid Bugti said the invitation was only for the Baloch leadership in the province. He said leaders of the parties would be contacted in this regard. He asked delegates to inform the party by Sept 12 about their participation so that arrangements for the gathering could be finalized.

Nawab Bugti stated that he had floated the idea of formation of a single platform on May 15 but the response of political parties was lukewarm.

However, the reaction of intellectuals, youths and the groups active for the Baloch cause was encouraging, he said.

In reply to a question, Shahid Bugti said the four-party alliance had highlighted the problems of the Baloch and given proposals to the parliamentary committee formed on the issues but it had not played an effective role to mobilize people.
