Champion Munir back in buisness

KARACHI, Aug 27: Reigning champion Muhammad Munir produced a spectacular second round of five-under 67 to share lead with Shabbir Iqbal on the penultimate day of Sindh Open golf championship at the Arabian Sea Country Club on Saturday.

Munir showed his class on fairways and greens with as many as six birdies and one bogey on yet another windy but pleasant day.

If Munir was brilliant, Shabbir again played a superb and consistent round of four-under-par 68 spiced with four birdies and a bogey.

Both Munir and Shabbir were tied at the leaderboard with an aggregate of 136 followed by Amjad Yousuf, who was placed third at 137 and three strokes behind was Imdad Hussain at 140.

The day also belonged to Amjad who fired four-under 68 laced with highest-seven birdies and three bogeys.

Muhammad Akram mustered three-under 69 with two birdies and an eagle at hole number 11.

Muhammad Ali Hai also returned to the top form to maintain lead by collecting a three-under-par 69 in the second round of amateurs.

Ali, bound for Tokyo for next month’s Asia Pacific Golf as member of the Pakistan team, have played the rounds of 73 and 69 while Taimur Hasan was placed second with 148, having played the second round of par 72.
