Thanks Naeem should triumph again

KARACHI, Aug 27: The eight-year-old chestnut Thanks Naeem will have to overcome fighting three-year old filly Patricia to make it two in a row in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi racecourse on Sunday.

Pitted against six contenders in the fourth race of the afternoon spread over six furlongs, Thanks Naeem enjoys slight edge over Patricia having beaten the latter by 3 ½ lengths in the last meeting on Aug 21.

If one goes by the current form and fitness, Thanks Naeem should win the race to be followed by Patricia and four-year old filly Aie Bahar.

Royal Loyalty, the five-year old mare, starts as our day’s best in the programme which envisages a total of eight races. The first race begins at 1.30 p.m.

Ridden by Sheraz Ahmed, Royal Loyalty returned with flying colours on Aug 7 by two lengths and is poised to repeat his last performance in the first race of five furlongs having eleven horses in fray.

Half-bred Issey Miyke and three-year old filly Dr. Good Head will battle it out for the places.

Two-year-old colt Moj-e-Arab, who had to be content with second slot behind Zidane in the Independence Day meeting, should make amends in the second race where he will be up against eight horses in the four furlongs battle. He should be chased home by two-year-old dark filly Bul Bul.

Three-year-old thoroughbred Pakistani horse Butter Fly is our fancy in the six furlongs third race. Three-year-old colt Arab-Hi-Arab and bay colt Leopard would fight for the place.

Chestnut Lucky View should dominate the fifth race which has eighteen horses in the field. Chestnut Lucky Five and six-year-old Sea Biscuit would fight for the second and third positions.

Silver City, the dark bay horse and Bang On Target, the bay mare, are tipped to win the sixth and seven races, respectively.

Five-year old bay mare Princess Javeria who was beaten to fourth place in the last meeting should win the concluding race, which again has eighteen contenders.
