ISLAMABAD, Aug 27: Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) MNA Malik Allahyar Khan, who had fielded his candidates against former district Nazim Maj (Retired) Tahir Sadiq in Attock, on Saturday conceded the defeat of his Ehtesab group in the local government elections.

In a statement, Malik Allahyar said, “being partyless election, we participated as a group but unfortunately we did not fare well as expected”.

The PAC chairman congratulated the winning candidates, including nazims and naib nazims, and expressed the hope that they would “work honestly and sincerely for the betterment of the people.”

He further said the nazims, naib nazims and councillors who won the elections from their group would actively work to strengthen the devolution plan.

“As stated by the prime minister on Friday all of us now have to forget our differences, work together to improve the living standard of our people, to make it easier to seek justice and earn for them a better place in the society,” he added.

The PAC chairman also thanked the people of Tehsil Jand, Pindigheb and Fatehjang for supporting his group.

It may be mentioned that Malik Allahyar Khan and Minister of State for Environment Malik Amin Aslam had fielded their candidates against former district nazim’s group, who had the official support of the ruling party.

The two important members of the government had earlier sought the postponement of the local bodies polls and demanded that elections should be held after conducting accountability of former elected representatives.
