PCB was forced to break locks: Shaharyar

By Our Sports Correspondent

LAHORE, Aug 26: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Shaharyar M. Khan has admitted that the board was forced to break the locks of defunct Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) after the provincial body officials failed to respond to several letters addressed to them.

Talking to journalists on Friday, Shaharyar explained that the decision was taken after consulting legal advisor. The chairman elaborated that the PCB had been writing to the PCA for the last one and a half year to quit the offices, situated in the Qadhafi Stadium, after the dissolution of the body in 2004.

“We have been writing to all defunct provincial associations to submit their accounts and vacate offices but only the PCA did not respond,” he said.

The PCB chairman further said that the act was not illegal.

When informed that the PCA (defunct) president Ijaz Butt had threatened the board that he reserved the right to go to court of law, Shaharyar said he would not mind if they adopted that way.

He added that the PCB would soon display all the correspondence with the defunct PCA on its official website.
