Pakistan Open in January
KARACHI, Aug 25: Pakistan Golf Federation (PGF) will organize national history’s biggest ever event- the Pakistan Open carrying US$ 200,000 prize money in January next in Karachi, PGF secretary Taimur Hasan said on Thursday.
“Some of top 90 golfers from Asia and Pacific will be featuring in the four-day event,” Taimur said.
“This is going to be the biggest-ever competition ever staged in Pakistan,” Taimur said, who was here to negotiate for title sponsorship.
He said this was over in a decade that Asian Tour will be coming to Pakistan.
PGF secretary said the event will be held either at Karachi Golf Club or Arabian Sea Country Club from Jan 19 to 22.
He said hosting the event will highly benefit the local professional golfers and it will provide them international exposure.
He said besides golfers from Asian continent, Australian and New Zealand players will take part in 72-hole competition.
Taimur said normally 30 host players were allowed to take part in the event but he was trying to get ten extra slots for Pakistan.—APP
