Govt urged to appoint new tribunal head

KARACHI, Aug 25: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) and the All Pakistan Newspaper Employees Confederation (APNEC) have demanded the immediate appointment of the new chairman of the implementation tribunal, a post lying vacant since last month and decided to re-start their campaign for implementation of the Seventh Wage Award from Friday.

In a press release, the two organizations said that the government should appoint an independent judge of the high court as hundreds of cases of non-implementation of the previous wage awards are still pending.

The PFUJ and APNEC have urged all affiliated unions to begin meeting trade union leaders, heads of political parties, parliamentary party leaders, representatives of bar associations and human rights organizations from Friday to advocate their case.
