KARACHI: Rs4,993m approved for welfare projects


KARACHI, Aug 25: The federal government has approved Rs4,993 million for welfare projects of Sindh workers under the Sindh Worker’s Welfare Board. The projects prepared on the directives of Sindh Labour Minister Mohammed Adil Siddiqi, envisages the construction of 5,300 flats throughout the province.

Of them, 3,000 flats will be constructed in Karachi at a cost of Rs2,808 million, 1,500 in Hyderabad costing Rs1,268 million, 500 in Kotri for Rs467 million, 200 in Nooriabad for Rs139 million and 100 flats in Larkana at a cost of Rs73 million.

Besides, Rs169 million were sanctioned for the construction of SESSI Medical and Dental College adjacent to the Kulsoom Bai Valika Social Security SITE Hospital.

The foundation stone of this college, to be meant for children of the workers, was laid by Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz.

Another Rs69 million were approved in order to meet the long standing demand of water supply in the industrial area of Hyderabad.—APP
