KUWAIT CITY, Aug 24: A group of Pakistanis, who were kidnapped and freed in Iraq in last week, has still to reach Kuwait as they were held up in completing some formalities, according to the Pakistan embassy here. Charge’ d’Affaires Dr Khalid Ejaz told Dawn that the freed Pakistanis were safe and once the formalities were completed, they would be immediately brought to Kuwait.

Dr. Khalid said he was constantly in contact with Kuwaiti and American authorities to ensure that the Pakistanis were safely brought to Kuwait.

The Pakistanis were kidnapped with some Indians and Egyptians on Aug 13 while going to Baghdad to install an ice factory.

Dr Khalid said the kidnap victims included eight Pakistanis, four Indians and three Egyptians, and not 11 Pakistanis, two Indians and three Egyptians as reported earlier.
