LAHORE, Aug 23: Government High School Nanakpura, Peshawar Region, aided by half-centuries from Jibran Khan and Faisal Nawaz, scored 227 for six wickets in the first innings against Ibrahim Alibhai School, Karachi on the first day of two-day final of the PCB National school championship at the Qadhafi Stadium on Tuesday.
Batting first, Peshawar Region’s innings were steadied by Jibran and Faisal.
Faisal scored 51 runs with four boundaries off 154 balls while Jibran was still at the crease with 171-ball 59 laced with six boundaries.
Shahzad Khan (34, seven fours, 88 balls) and Safiullah (29, three fours, 129 balls) chipped in with useful runs.
Alibhai School used eight bowlers after right-arm medium-pacer Arif Khan was stopped by umpires for suspect action.
Similarly, Luqman Khan was given a last warning for the same offence. Only off-spinner Qadim Khan grabbed two wickets for 66.
The two teams obtained three points each after the first day’s play. The batting side obtained two points when the first innings total reached 150 runs.
One more point was added when 50 runs were made taking the total to 200.
The bowling side got two points with first four wickets and added one more by taking two more wickets.
It is more likely the result will be decided on points because the completion of two innings by each team is almost impossible in a two-day final.
