MUZAFFARABAD, Aug 23: Indian troops have arrested one more resident of AJK, his family members and police sources said on Tuesday. “We believe that the Indian troops have arrested Abdur Rehman because there are no other grounds of his disappearance,” a police official said.
However, the official was not sure whether the 60-year-old man had crossed the Line of Control “by mistake” or the Indian troops had “as usual trespassed on the AJK territory” and arrested him.
Mr Rehman, a resident of Bijildhar village of Leepa valley, had gone missing on Monday from the LoC.
Suspecting his death at the hands of Indian soldiers, the family raised alarm on Tuesday following which search operation was launched by civil and military authorities, but to no success.
On Aug 13, two youths belonging to the neighbouring Ghaipura village of the same valley were arrested by the Indian troops several yards inside the AJK territory as they were herding cattle.
So far the two, identified as Mohammad Waqar, 13, and his 30-year old orphaned cousin Abdur Rauf, have not been released despite efforts by Pakistan army and passionate appeals by their family.
Officials say that of late incidents of arrests of border area residents of AJK by the Indian troops have increased.
