Polling station venue change criticized

By Our Correspondent

QUETTA, Aug 23: A candidate for the post of nazim of the Maiwand union council of Kohlu district has protested against a change in the venue of a polling station ‘at 11th hour on the directives of the chief minister’.

In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Ali Gul Mari claimed that the chief election commissioner (CEC), on his application dated August 6, had restored Thadri polling station at Sindwani but the provincial election commissioner on Monday changed its venue to Thadri.

He said that the change would benefit his rival candidate who had threatened ‘not to allow his supporters to cast votes’.

He appealed to the CEC to take notice of it and ensure compliance with his order to restore the Sindwani polling station.
