KARACHI, Aug 23: The detention of Mohammad Kashif Khan, an alleged dangerous activist of defunct Sipah-i-Shaba Pakistan (SSP) was extended for another 30 days, Additional Advocate General Sindh appearing before a division bench of High Court of Sindh (SHC) said here on Tuesday.
The bench, comprising pusine judge, Justice Ghulam Rabbani and Justice Azizullah M.Memon, was hearing a constitutional petition challenging the alleged illegal detention of Kashif who was taken into custody on July 16. The detention orders were subsequently passed by the home department.
Zubeda K. Jamali, counsel for the petitioner, requested the court to permit him to file an amended petition. The bench allowed the request. The counsel also complained that the authorities of Central Prison Karachi were not allowing family of the detainee to meet him, and, therefore, the production of the detainee on the next date of hearing be ordered.
AAG Sindh said family could meet the accused/detainee on any Friday. The bench, however, adjourned the matter till Aug 30.—APP
