Blair’s holiday spot disclosed

Published August 23, 2005

LONDON: Prime Minister Tony Blair’s office on Monday lifted a ban on reporting the British leader’s summer holiday destination — revealing that he and his family are staying for the third straight year on the Caribbean island of Barbados.

A Downing Street spokeswoman said the U-turn came because Blair had accepted an invitation from the Barbados Legion to attend an event on Sunday evening to commemorate the end of the Second World War.

She urged the media, however, to refrain from revealing Blair’s precise location on the Caribbean island.—AFP
