ISLAMABAD, Aug 21: Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry has constituted a special committee that will make recommendations to strengthen the institutional capacity of the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA).

The committee was constituted in a meeting of the board of governors (BoG) of the Federal Judicial Academy (FJA) held in the conference room of the Supreme Court building here on Saturday. The meeting was presided over by the chief justice.

The special committee comprises Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jillani, Judge Supreme Court of Pakistan, Makhdoom Ali Khan, Attorney General for Pakistan, and Maqsood Ahmed, Secretary Law Justice and Human Rights.

The committee would make recommendations for strengthening the institutional capacity of the academy with particular reference to the terms and conditions of the members of the faculty and the staff of the academy, the eligibility qualification of members, curriculum and appointment of a project director to supervise the construction of phase-II of the academy.

The academy’s director-general, Chaudhry Hassan Nawaz, made a presentation on the service delivery indicators and faculty of the academy. He suggested that Section 4 of the Federal Judicial Academy Act, which dealt with the aims and objectives of the academy, should be suitably amended so as to enlarge the scope of its activities.
