BD offered support for Saarc summit

ISLAMABAD, Aug 20: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz said on Saturday that Pakistan looked forward to the summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation in Dhaka and assured full support to Bangladesh to make it a success.

Talking to Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Hemayetuddin, who called on him at Prime Minister’s House, Mr Aziz said Saarc provided a platform to the seven member countries to increase cooperation.

He said Pakistan was looking forward to the Saarc summit and he was confident that it would carry forward from the good work done at the Islamabad summit.

He said the private sector in both the countries had natural affinity and the two countries needed to work for a free trade agreement.

He said cooperation between the two countries could be expanded by people-to-people contacts, cultural exchanges and increased trade and economic activity.
