Break in monsoon

By Our Staff Reporter

LAHORE, Aug 20: There were no chances of any significant rain in the country because of the absence of any strong monsoon activity or westerly system, says the Flood Forecasting Division of the Pakistan Meteorological Department.

It remained hot and humid on Saturday in most parts of the province, including Lahore, where the maximum temperature was 36.4 degrees C. The high percentage of humidity, 64 per cent in the morning and 60 per cent in the evening, created a great deal of inconvenience for the people.

According to the FFD, there was a break in the monsoon current. The province was receiving a mild current from the Arabian sea but it could not generate any significant rain.

It expected the resumption of monsoon current after a week or so. At present, the monsoon activity was in low profile even in India and Bangladesh, it said.
